This is my blur project! The hardest thing was trying to get the shutter speed right, and on some I focused so much on the shutter speed, I forgot about the light meter and they turned out a little dark. Best part: making my friends do silly things so that I could photograph them.

Landscapes part 2/2

I think this is my favorite picture out of the landscapes. I really like how the ivy on the tree makes i't's own mini landscape, and then there is the real landscape in the background. I probably needed to develop it a little darker, but most of the light patches are because it doesn't stay flat in the scanner.

I really like this picture because it looks like some sort of weird, ethereal forest, and just a little bit haunted. I also really like the contrast between the dark trees and the white sky. What I needed to work on was to develop it longer in the dark room, so it turned out a little darker. 

landscapes part 1 of 2

So this is part one of my landscape project (the others are still not dry enough to scan).

I really liked this project! I got to fiddle with my camera and try some new techniques I'd read about. Some worked (focusing on the background rather than the obvious subject) and others didn't (holding a mirror under the lens to block out unwanted objects) but over all it was one of my favorite projects so far.

This is my favorite so far! I always thought it was a myth that you could do this, but voila! So you do this by turning the scanner on an rotating your face over it. I could do a million of these!! I did a few in color, even though the assignment is black and white. Unfortunately, I didn't realize until afterwards that this computer didn't have photo shop. But do not fear, there are more, in black and white, on the next post!!

I'm a little upset, because I lost the best photos on this reel, which is why there are only two pictures. I still have the contact sheet, but the film went MIA before I could actually print them... Hopefully they'll show up soon enough and I can get them done ASAP!

Just for fun!

So I went on a trip to Ashland for the Shakespeare festival a few weeks ago, and my friend gave me an extra roll of film from the year before. I had a blast looking in the weird shops at the fun things they had around, and these are my two favorite pictures from the trip! To be honest, they're my two favorite pictures so far this year.
